Call for papers - ICIE 2020 - Guimarães, Portugal in June
ICIE’2020 will be the 1st edition of this conference in the successful series of conferences on Innovation in Engineering.
This edition of the conference is organized at School of Engineering of University of Minho, by MEtRICs and Algoritmi Research Centres.
The conference will be held in July 08th-10th, 2020, at campus of University of Minho, in Guimarães, a Portuguese world heritage city, 55 kilometers to the north of Porto.
Accepted papers will be published by Springer as Lecture Notes in Mechanical Engineering series. The books of this series are submitted to, among others, ISI Proceedings (Web of Science) and SCOPUS.
Papers must be prepared using Springer guidelines, with maximum of 12 pages length. For preparing respective papers, authors must read Proceedings Guidelines for Authors and prepare papers according Springer Word Template or Springer LaTex Template.

You can submit proposals for one of the following three types:
- Individual paper presentation (*the companies may showcase their solutions involving university-industry-government cooperation on the way to innovations)
- Individual poster presentation
- Panel discussion or round table session, consisting no less than three presenters
All proposals shall be directed to some of the Triple Helix Conference 2020 tracks:
- Theoretical foundations and methodological approaches of Triple Helix
- Concepts and theories to frame the future of innovation
- Innovation in transnational contexts
- Innovation for sustainable development goals
- University reforms for future innovation
- Governance and public policy in shaping future innovative society
- Individuals’ role in Triple/Quadruple Helix or future innovation
- Others topics related to the theme of the Conference
The members of the Scientific Committee of the 2020 Triple Helix Conference will review all the submitted abstracts. The authors of the accepted abstracts will be invited to submit full papers to the Conference. Successful full papers are considered for publications in the Triple Helix journal and other possible journals and magazines.
The descriptions and structures of the three types of proposals are as follows.
Proposals for individual paper or poster presentations
The papers and posters can be put in the following three categories: a. original research – either conceptual or empirical, b. research design for studies in-progress or c. analysis of practical experience e.g. practitioners’ perspectives.
When writing the proposals, please use Harvard referencing style, Times font size 12 pt, line spacing of 1,5 and 2 pt margins.
The length of paper proposal is 800-1000 words; the length of poster proposal is 400-500 words.
A proposal must include the following:
- Title
- Types (a. original research, b. research Design or c. practical experience analysis)
- Track
- Purpose
- Design/Methodology/Approach
- Findings or expected outcomes
- Limitations/implications
- Practical and/or Social Implications
- Originality/Value
- Keywords (3-5)
Proposals for panel discussion and round table session
Panel discussions are designed to encourage dialogue around a timely themes related to the topic of the conference. Besides panel discussions, the format of the suggested session can be a new one, for example a round table discussion, debate, pecha kucha or a fishbowl conversation. New formats of dialogue are warmly welcomed to this section. Each session shall take 90 minutes and must include minimum four participants including the organiser of the session.
Proposals will be reviewed by the members of the Scientific Committee of the 2020 Triple Helix Conference. The selected proposals will be invited to submit their conference papers and successful papers are considered for publications in the Triple Helix journal and other possible journals and magazines.

A nova Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD) entrará em vigor em agosto deste ano e as pequenas, médias e grandes empresas terão que se adequar a uma série de requisitos para garantir que o uso de dados pessoais esteja em conformidade com as regras previstas na nova lei.
O processo de coleta de dados terá que ser ajustado para que não haja nenhuma exposição indevida de dados, evitando possíveis penalidades impostas pela nova lei. Processos robustos, como os que são determinados pela LGPD, podem exigir mudanças complicadas e requerer a dedicação de todos os colaboradores.
Esta é a hora de ouvir os especialistas, conhecer as novas regras e descobrir como adequar o seu negócio a nova lei. A palestrante é Priscilla Silva - doutoranda e mestre em Teoria do Estado e Direito Constitucional pela PUC-Rio, foi fellow do programa de estudos em Direito e Religião ICLRS, promovido pela BYU na Universidade de Oxford, é membro do DROIT (grupo de pesquisa em direito e novas tecnologias da PUC-Rio), autora do livro “Contrarreligião: Liberdade de Expressão e o Discurso de Ódio Contrarreligioso” e é pesquisadora de Direito e Tecnologia no ITS Rio

Call for papers - Triple Helix Journal - THJ: Triple Helix and the new production of academic knowledge
This Special Issue aims to investigate changes in the production of academic knowledge in Science, Technology, and the Humanities. The main objective is to extend the analysis of the internal organization of the university, and also will consider both traditional and new organizational structures. The way universities are spreading academic knowledge through the communication between departments, research centers, research laboratories, and interdisciplinary units to industry and government. Also, this special issue will consider the new roles of Technology Transfer offices, Business Incubators, Science Parks, and Grant Management Unit in connecting academic knowledge to industry. We also approach the topic from the perspective of alternative models for research and innovation like technological consulting, the transition to an entrepreneurial university including innovation, entrepreneurship, and contribution to regional development in its remit. We will present real cases of university research laboratories and industry interaction for innovation. The authors will present how the autonomy, heterogeneity, creativity, and leadership of research groups and research laboratories can influence to bring knowledge and technology from university to industry.
This article collection aims to address these broad questions, addressing the following topics:
a) The Internal organization of academic knowledge and scienceb) Interdisciplinary organization center above the university, and
c) Hybrid new institutions
We would like to invite you to address these issues, keeping in mind that an ideal article combines theoretical, empirical and policy elements, although the balance may differ.

A Revista Brasileira de Estudos Organizacionais (RBEO) está com chamada de trabalhos em curso para o dossiê temático "A Universidade no mundo global: reflexões, desafios e perspectivas para o Brasil e a América Latina".
Para esta publicação estão convidados autore(a)s disposto(a)s a problematizar e a tecer argumentos sobre aspectos estruturais, atitudinais e relacionais que envolvam a instituição universitária e os atores que a constituem. Serão bem-vindas diversas perspectivas teóricas, epistemológicas e metodológicas, especialmente de natureza crítica e interdisciplinar, sob a forma de ensaios teóricos ou estudos teórico-empíricos, trazendo contribuições para o campo dos estudos organizacionais e para a compreensão de nossa realidade educacional.
